Soundpeats offer a range of different audio products from headphones to bluetooth speakers at great prices. Today, I’ll be specifically taking a look at the Q12 earphones selling at a price of only £17.59 they are very affordable but will they satisfy our audio needs!?

Build and First Impressions

The earphones come boxed in a very sturdy black but elegant Soundpeats box. As you open it up you can see that these earphones come with a handy little black carry case with printed logo. You also get the earphones themselves, a pack of different sized ear buds and tips, a micro usb charging cable and the paperwork.

The earphones themselves look & feel very solid being made from a high grade plastic and being very robust. They are all black in colour with gun metal discs on the outer casing making up the magnetic attachment keeping both buds together and tidy. I do like the hint of green colour they have added to the inter-changeable bud tips which certainly adds a little character. The attached control panel is structurally sound and they have even discreetly added the charging port into this, which is covered by a plastic cap. They are very lightweight at only 15g making you sometimes forget you are actually wearing them. If you fancied an alternative colour they also come in red and black.

Provided are 3 sets of ear tips and buds all of varying sizes, allowing you to create the perfect combination to fit your ears snugly. There is also a line clip provided & 2 line buckles should you require to clip them to clothing.

The carry case is really handy, keeping your earphones fully protected whilst in transport. It easily accommodates the Q12’s and also has a useful little mesh pocket built in to it to store the tips and the usb charger neatly.

Functionality

The earphones fit securely and comfortably in the ear once you have found the perfect combo of tips and buds for your ear shape.

The built in control bar includes a play/option button in the centre and volume up and down either side. To the rear is the built in microphone and nestled discreetly at the bottom the usb charging point which has been cleverly integrated into it. The LED light is situated on the front between the buttons and changes colour depending on function being used.

They include the latest bluetooth 4.1 technology and also have aptX audio incorporated for a purer and much crisper sound experience which is great and certainly noticeable in the audio quality. Pairing the earphones with your devices is also very quick and simple.

The Q12’s have a battery life of up to 6 hours, so if you’re going to be using these for training throughout the week one charge weekly may suffice. Charging time ranges between 1-2 hours to power them fully, pretty quick.

Another great feature of these earphones is the magnets built into the earphone housing, allowing you to keep them nice and tidy without getting them tangled or you can keep them safe around your neck when not immediately in use.

As with most earphones these days, they have a built in microphone for use when taking or making calls from your phone. Voice comes across clearly and simply press the multifunction button in the middle to answer and end calls.

Moving on to sound quality, they don’t disappoint! Every sound range seems to be pretty well balanced and even manage some nice bassy sound in the majority without being overpowering. The highs and mids are great too and voice is very clear and precise.

Note these earphones also come with 12 months warranty should you need to have them replaced or repaired etc.

Verdict

I’ve got to say these have got to be my favourite in-ear earphones I have tested to date. Great for workouts and they actually stay fixed into my small ears the majority of the time, that’s why I mainly use over the ear headphones whilst in the gym. The sound quality can’t be faulted, apart from the odd song which sometimes I feel lacked a little bass, this is my only gripe about these earphones. Built primarily for sports use they are structurally sound and feel like they will be really hard wearing even through the toughest of workouts. The included carry case tops it off, so hats off to Soundpeats for producing this fantastic affordable set of earphones.
